The Minnesota Vikings are a professional American football team located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They currently compete in the National Football League in the National Football League North Division. The team was originally an American Football League (AFL) team. But they eventually decided to join the National Football League (NFL). Before the reorganization in 2002, they belonged to the Central Division team, also called the "Black and Blue Division". They are also one of only five teams in the NFL to win 15 games in a single regular season. They won their first conference championship in franchise history in the 1969 season, but then lost 23-7 to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl IV. The Vikings are the first team to play in four Super Bowl finals, although they have not won a single one; they have won 20 division championships and are currently ranked sixth among all teams in the National League. The division is also second only to the Packers' 24 times; after 1970, they have entered the playoffs one or two times in the league, but no team has advanced to as many National Conferences or American Conferences as they have. Championship games (10) but never won the Super Bowl.
