The New Orleans Saints (English: New Orleans Saints), also translated as the New Orleans Saints, are a professional American football team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. They are one of the Southern Division teams of the National Football League. The team was founded in 1967, but its early results were not particularly impressive. The team reached the playoffs for the first time in 1987 and did not achieve its first victory in the playoffs until 2000. In 2006, the team advanced to the National League Championship Game for the first time. In the 2006 season, the team became the first team to lose more than 13 games or more, and the next team successfully advanced to the NFC Championship Game. In the 2009 Super Bowl, they defeated the Indianapolis Colts with a score of 31-17 and won the first National Football League championship in team history.
