The Washington Commanders are a professional American football team based in the Washington metropolitan area. The Commanders compete as a member of the National Football Conference East Division of the National Football League (NFL). The team's home stadium is FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland, and its headquarters and training base are in Ashburn, Virginia. The Commanders have played more than 1,000 games since their inception and are one of only five teams in the NFL with a total of more than 600 wins. Washington was one of the first NFL teams to have a team song: their marching band played "Long Live the Commander" every time the team scored a touchdown at home. The Commanders franchise is owned by a group led by Josh Harris, who purchased the team from Daniel Snyder in 2023 for $6.05 billion.
